My Story

Over the years of experience in data migration to SAP R/3 environment, I have repeatedly seen the same picture – the client has to deliver data in the required format, on time according to the project plan.
But the data is not. They are not in the required quality. They are not cleaned. They are not complete. And in many cases, not at all.

The implementation team is in trouble. Data is the fuel for the PY machine. Try putting dirty gasoline in the tank. Or just have the tank empty. In the first case, your machine will run vibrating, jerky, and there’s no question of a comfortable ride. So, you will reach the finish (parallel run, live payroll) only with considerable difficulty. If you get there at all.

In the second case, your machine won’t start at all.

All of this had common denominators on the part of my clients – insufficient understanding of the data format, incomplete knowledge of the master data in terms of its transformation (mapping) according to the requirements of the business blueprint and configuration worksheet, in many cases ignorance of how to clean the data for its conversion into the format required by the PY provider. Lack of qualified people with responsibility to address data migration issues during all project phases. I could go on and on, the list would be long.

This repeated and often frustrating experience for the implementation team led me to the idea of providing new clients with support during data migration to SAP R/3.
